Inspired by and based on the original FreeGeek from Portland Oregon and made up of Geeks and non-Geeks, FreeGeek Providence is a non-profit grassroots community that has formed in Providence Rhode Island in order to provide computer training, computer hardware, internet access and technical support at a very low or free rate to people in our community. We take all computer related hardware and provide recycling services for free.
Would you like to volunteer to help our environment? Are you interested in sharing your technical skills or knowledge with people who also volunteer in our community? You can participate in our Build Program. This program is designed to teach you the basics of computer hardware installation. You build 6 computers and you get to keep the sixth one. You can also choose to volunteer your time in other things. After 24 hours of community service, you are placed on the list for a free computer. Sign up now!
Are you unable to volunteer because of a disability? Does your small business or non-profit organization need computer equipment? Fill out the preliminary Adoption sheet to let us know what your needs are. We will do our best to facilitate a hardware grant to you or our organization or small business.
